Why This Matters

Puberty is a period of profound change for all young people. For neurodivergent children and adolescents, these changes can amplify sensory sensitivities, emotional responses, and social challenges.

This often means that children who previously appeared to be coping may suddenly feel overwhelmed.

This talk explores how neurodivergent young people experience puberty differently, with a specific focus on sensory processing, emotional regulation, and social communication.

What You Will Gain

Drawing on examples from both medicine and the classroom, Jess highlights why understanding these differences matters and shares practical strategies to support neurodivergent young people both professionally and at home.

We will consider how to talk about puberty in ways that are:

  • Clear

  • Compassionate

  • Developmentally appropriate

Meet Your Speaker: Dr. Jess Morgan
